Judge Ahn declared a mistrial in Chris Deedy’s court case. She released the jury and stated she was thinking about scheduling a retrial for May or June, 2014.

This means the jury deliberated but was unable to come to a unanimous verdict, so no decision was made. A hearing was scheduled for this Friday to work out the details of having another trial.

There is also case law that allows the defense to motion for the jury to be polled about how many members voted guilty versus not guilty. If there’s a majority for not guilty the defense can then request for the judge to dismiss the case.

We ask that you continue to keep Chris in your thoughts and prayers. We’ll post updates as we learn more.

They can request to dismiss the case, but she won’t do it. Deedy is in my thoughts and prayers alright.

    Did they poll the jury?

Sorry to hear this is being dragged on any further, I have been following the case closely as I know Chris to be an exemplary human being. Chris should have been found not guilty, as it is very obvious he did not commit second degree murder, the charge he was brought up on. As long as Chris is being tried in Hawaii he will not have a fair trial. It is sad that we live in a world where people who put themselves out there for the safety of others and for standing up for whats right can get caught up in something like this. Chris and his family continue to have my full support. I was really hoping for him to finally be able to put this behind him.
